Korea Day 4

Day 4: 21st Dec 2008

We had our breakfast in the hotel restaurant. Just when we were eating halfway, we saw white flakes falling from the sky. Then Darling and I got ultra excited. So we ate quickly and ran out of the hotel. It was SNOWING!!!! First time in my life I see real snow... and not only that... it's real fresh-from-the-oven snow falling from the sky. Wahahaha...

The snow flakes were very fluffy, very light, and very cooollllllddddd. Each snow flake came in different shapes and sizes. Like small crystals.

It was only beginning of the snow, hence, the floor and the cars were not very white yet. In my later posts, u'll b able to see real thick layers of snow. Hehe...

Our hotel really look really big. I just love this hotel. Too bad we only stayed there for one night. =(

On our way to Mt. Sorak, the snowing got heavier, and the road got really slippery. The driver instructed us to put on seat belt in the coach.

Upon reaching Mt. Sorak. My first response to Darling was "xue3 shan1 fei1 hu2". Haha... The whole mountain was covered in snow. So so so white lor. And and, it was still snowing, and was getting heavier and heavier.

At the foot of the mountain, we walked to visit the big buddha.

The Buddha was ultra big. Dunnoe how many story high. There were still Koreans going there to pray. The Buddha looked exceptionally magnificent especially with the snow.

Can you see the little snow man? It was not done by us la. We only borrowed it to take photo. Haha...

The thick layer of snow sticking to my shoes. My toes were freezing at that time. Haha...

I love these 2 photos. Thinking of making it into poster, then put in Darling's place. Haha...

Of coz, after these 2 photos, I threw the snow balls at Darling. Haha...

We had to take gondola up to the mountain. And here's us at the entrance of the gondola station.

The gondola was very spacious. It could easily contain 40 over pple.

And the view in the gondola up the mountain was magnificent!!!

The road up the mountain was ultra slippery and difficult. It was even more diffcult when the Koreans were pushing their way up the mountain. Piang. Minni and Darling nearly fell a number of times, coz due to the snow, and many people going up and down the moutain, the path was already icing up... So we were basically sliding up and down the mountain, not walking. Anyway, along the way up the mountain, the scenery was very very beautiful.

And finally, we reached the peak of Mt. Sorak. And because it was not easy reaching the destination, we decided to take lots of photos before going back down, else very luuuuu-giiiii leh...

When we took this photo, behind us was a cliff. And if we were not careful, we could easily fall off the cliff. Haha... Brave us.

As we made our way sliding down the mountain, we saw these 3 little snowmen. Haha... So cute right? But it didn't last long, coz a boy from my tour group pushed them down the moment he saw them. But luckily I took the photo first before he could "kill" them all. Haha...

And here's the amount of snow covering Darling's backpack. The water he left at his side pocket also became ice water liao.

And more photos.

Last few photos at Mt. Sorak. We were really amused by the different shapes of the snow. Haha...

The snow really got heavier near noon. Just when we left Mt. Sorak, our tour guide received a news informing her that the road into and out of Mt. Sorak was closed due to the snow. Piang.. Heng ah... Luckily we left early.

Thereafter was lunch. We had BBQ pork. Yes!!! Pork AGAIN!! =(

The view outside the restaurant was very nice.

After lunch, we took a 2 hours coach journey to the Phoenix, where the ski centre was. We took cable car all the way up another small mountain. The peak was called Mont Blanc, when we stopped for 20 minutes to take photos. But it was ultra cold at the peak. Much more colder than the peak at Mt. Sorak even though this mountain is much shorter. Many people from our tour group only stayed around 5 minutes and rushed to take the cable car back down.

We had no idea what this chair and bell were for at Mont Blanc. But if somebody could hold their solemnization here, it would be quite romantic. But have to be able to tahan the chill la. Hehe..

We checked into the Phoenix Park Resort, which was just beside the ski center. We were told to change into our swim wear to go to the water themepark near the resort. After changing, Minni only brought one towel back down to the lobby to meet the guide. But the guide reminded us to bring more clothing coz we had to walk outdoor to the themepark. And so, Darling went back up to bring down our coat. Haha... naughty Minni.

You must be thinking who will be so crazy, winter time still go water themepark. Haha... The themepark has got indoor and outdoor facilities. During winter, the outdoor facilities will be closed. And they had jacuzzi and many other facilities in the themepark.

Sorry, no photos of the themepark coz I did not bring the camera in. But Minni was ultra sad after we left the themepark, coz due to Minni's pea-sized brain, I accidentally left my bag of bikini at the place. When I suddenly remembered, and went back to look for it, they were gone! *cry* Anyway, side-track abit, Darling brought me out to buy my bikini again. Haha...

The resort which we were staying was an on-do (dunnoe right spelling or not) style hotel. Meaning there was no bed in the room. We had to place mattress on the floor, and the floor was very warm. So warm until you might sweat in the middle of the night.

This is how our room looked like after placing the mattress. Our room looked very messy huh. Coz clever us placed all the wet clothes on the floor to dry them. Haha...

And this is the view of the ski centre from our room.

Those crazy ski fanatics ski-ed till midnight. Even till 1am, there were still people ski-ing.

Ok. End of Day 4. Day 5 is on the way. Oh ya. Happy 2009 everyone. May all ur wishes come true in the new year. 2009 will be better!!! WooooooHooooooooo!!!
